Mark is a senior partner in the Providence, Rhode Island, law firm of Mandell, Schwartz & Boisclair, Ltd. He is admitted to practice before the Rhode Island Supreme Court, Alabama Supreme Court, United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island, United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.
Mark is a member of the Inner Circle of Advocates, an invitation-only group that limits its membership to one hundred of the leading trial lawyers in the country.
Mark is listed in the “Best Lawyers in America” in the fields of personal injury litigation, product liability litigation and in appellate practice. Mark is listed as Best Lawyer’s “Lawyer of the Year” in Providence for 2015-2016 in personal injury litigation, for 2014-2015 in appellate practice and for 2013-2014 in personal injury litigation.
Mark is triple-board certified for his expertise in civil trials by two national organizations. He is a Board Certified Civil Trial Specialist by the National Board of Legal Specialty Certification. He is also nationally recognized and Board Certified as an expert in medical negligence litigation by the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys. He is also board certified in Civil Pretrial Practice by the National Board of Legal Specialty Certification.
Mark’s practice focuses on catastrophic personal injury cases, wrongful death cases, liquor liability cases and medical negligence cases. He has had five trial results of at least $10 million and one settlement of over $176 million. Mark has had more verdicts of at least $1 million and also $10 million or more than any other lawyer in R.I. history.
In Rhode Island, Mark is a former President of both the Rhode Island Trial Lawyers Association (1988-1990) and the Rhode Island Bar Association (1993-1994). Mark was Chair of the Board of Directors of The Roger Williams University School of Law for three years from 2011-2014. From 1984 to April 1995, he was Chair of the Federal Board of Bar Examiners for the United States District Court, District of Rhode Island. He is currently a member of the Rhode Island Supreme Court’s Ethics Advisory Panel (2004-present).
At the national level, Mark was a President of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (now American Association for Justice) (1998-1999), the Roscoe Pound Institute and the National Crime Victims Bar Association (2006-2007). He also has served as Board Chair of the National Center for the Victims of Crime (2010–2013). He has co-chaired the Board of Trustees of AAJ’s National College of Advocacy (NCA). He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
Mark has published 24 articles in national and state publications on a variety of subjects. He has lectured in 45 states and internationally to both legal and medical communities on a wide range of legal and medico-legal topics.
