Biography

John Campbell is trial scientist who also has extensive experience as a trial attorney and appellate advocate. He is a member of Campbell Law LLC and co-founded the Justice through Empirical Data Institute (JEDI), which focuses on jury behavior to promote fair trials and access to justice. John pioneered the use of empirical studies and big data in litigation and trial. Together with his wife and business partner, Alicia Campbell, John conducts empirical studies that have become a cornerstone for many of the U.S.'s leading plaintiff attorneys. The work has been a critical part of over $4 billion in verdicts in states all over the country. John and Alicia have studied more jurors and cases than anyone on earth, with over 850 civil cases studied, multiple peer reviewed academic articles published, and over 300,000 jurors sampled.

As a co-author of Juryball, John has distilled his extensive experience into a book, helping other attorneys harness data to optimize their litigation and trial strategies.

Fluent in Spanish and based in Madrid, when John isn’t studying cases, he is hanging out with Alicia and cheering on his sons, Wyatt and Jack, as they play water polo and basketball.
